June 2, 2013
On June 2, Eastview Community Church was the setting for our end of the year concert this year. The audience was treated to a multi-cultural look at the love of music from around the world.
The first half of our program consisted of “Merry Melodies” showcasing the joy of music and singing. Songs such as Sing a Rainbow and Stuttering Lovers involved the use of rainbow streamers and props, while many songs gave choristers the opportunity to include some percussion accompaniment.
The second half featured choristers dressed in international costumes to match folksongs from around the world. Starting in Canada we moved through North and South America, Africa, Europe, British Isles, Ukraine, Asia, Australia, and many more.
Thank you to all our choristers for working hard on solo pieces. Thank you also to Leon Katsnelson for playing the piano, and Lukas and Marianne Sawatsky for their contribution of Anything You Can Do.
A Special Thanks goes out to:
Weldon Neufeld – Scottish Soldier soloist
Ernie Dyck – Guitar
